Jake Heyward | Mile

Born: 26/04/1999
From: Cardiff
Event: Mile (PB - 3:31.08)
Club: Cardiff AC

Jake was on the cusp of becoming the next big thing. He was touted as one of Britain’s brightest middle-distance talents - and then injury struck.

As a junior, he beat Steve Cram’s and Seb Coe’s age group records. European Championship titles came at under 18 and under 20 level.

He competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games, finishing ninth. And he made his Commonwealth Games debut four years ago at Birmingham 2022 where he finished fifth. In the same year, he won silver at the European Championships.

While his rise to the top has been thwarted by injury, Jake opened the 2026 season, clocking 3:37.75 - the A standard for Glasgow this summer.

He’s back home, in Cardiff, after a stint stateside where he honed his skills at the Oregon Project in Eugene, the world-famous Nike base where Mo Farah trained.
