Charlotte Henrich – a 400m specialist – has earned her spot on Team Wales this summer at the Commonwealth Games. And she has two chief will: her grandparents:

“It will mean the world to see their granddaughter representing Wales.”

The 19-year-old was born in France, and her first language is French - but her mother was born and raised in Carmarthen.

It all started in secondary school after her PE teacher urged her to join a club. In 2025, she won gold at the European Under 20 Championships in Finland. Three years earlier, she was also victorious at the European Under 18 Championships.

She was the silver medallist at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023 and helped the women’s 4 x 400m team power to bronze at the World Under 20 Championships in 2024.

Charlotte enjoys learning Welsh on Duolingo.
