Cari first discovered her love of running in primary school. In fact, she won the Welsh Primary School Championships – and it would turn out to be the first medal of many.

The 27-year-old from Anglesey can boast the Welsh record in the 5k and, making the decision to try out the 3000m steeplechase, she won a bronze medal at the 2025 British Championships in a new Welsh record.

She also claimed gold at the 2025 British Cross Country Championships.

And now she is hoping to get the qualifying times in the 3000m steeplechase so she can book her place at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July:

“It would mean the world! Representing Wales at such a major championship is what we dream of doing, work hard every day for and it being a “home games” gives us that extra motivation to make the Welsh team as strong as possible.”

Her running talents were nurtured by coach Andy Walling at Menai Track and Field. Her breakthrough performance came in 2025 when she stormed to a new PB of 15.05 in the 5000m.

Cari also loves to jump on her bike, play a round of golf and bake.
