Amber - now living in Illinois - first found athletics when her step‑dad bought her a pair of running shoes. She was being bullied at school, and running soon became her escape.

On joining a local club, she discovered the throwing events - and everything changed. Since then, she’s earned a college scholarship to America, finished fifth at her first Commonwealth Games in 2022, and has become the Welsh record holder.

Now hungry to compete at her second Commonwealth Games, recent results include finishing third at the 2025 British Championships.

“The 2022 Commonwealth Games was my first world stage competition. I enjoyed every moment leading up to the Games - training with my teammates and getting to know new people. The feeling of heading into such a big competition, achieving a PB and finishing higher than I went in ranked, all whilst wearing the Welsh vest, was unbeatable.

“It would be an honour to represent Wales again on an international stage, knowing I’m part of something bigger than myself. I’d carry not just my own ambitions, but the support of everyone who has helped me along the way.”

She currently juggles training with a career in wealth management. She trains
at the University of Illinois. As a proud alumni, she now gives back and supports some of the best college athletes in America.
