2023 Welsh Senior & U15 Championships

The sun was shining in Cardiff for the 105th edition of the Welsh Track and Field Championships. On day 1 it was double gold for Hannah and Joe Brier, both taking the Welsh Senior 400m titles. And Libby Hale (Swansea Harriers) and Olivia Scrimshaw (Deeside AAC) extended their own Welsh Records, Hale claimed the U15 Girls 1500m title, whilst Scrimshaw claimed the U15 Girls Triple Jump title.

Day 2 saw Aled Davies (Cardiff Athletics) and Hollie Arnold (Blackheath & Bromley) took to the field, with both athletes taking the Welsh titles. The first seated throws events to be included in the Welsh Outdoor Championships, which saw Kieran Jones (DSW Para Academy) and Ellie Bowen (DSW Para Academy) crowned Champions.

There were a number of double titles, with Commonwealth Games athlete Lauren Evans (Cardiff Athletics) taking the 100m Hurdle and High Jump titles, Hannah Longden (Cardiff Athletics) claimed both the Senior Women's 100m and 200m titles. In the throws Adele Nicoll (Birchfield Harriers) retained her Welsh titles in both the Senior Women's Shot Put and Discus. And it was a busy weekend for Aiden Angilletta (Deeside AAC), who claimed four Welsh titles in the U15 Boys High Jump, Javelin, Long Jump and 80m Hurdles.

European Team Championships, 23-25 June

In Poland representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the European Team Championships, Jeremiah Azu (Cardiff Athletics) claimed bronze in the Men’s 100m with a season best performance of 10.16.

Sarah Omoregie (Cardiff/Harvard Uni) made her Senior GB Vest debut at the Championships, finishing 15th in the Women’s Shot Put.

British Inter County Fell Running Championships, 24 June

In the Shropshire Hills on Saturday, the 2023 Junior British Inter-Countries Fell Championships took place.

There were two team medals for North Wales, in the Women’s U19 race North Wales took team silver and claimed bronze in the Women’s U17 race.

There was an individual silver medal for Mackenzie McCourt (Maldwyn Harriers) in the Women’s U17 race, completing the course in 38:05.


Gloucester 10K, 25 June

On Sunday, Swansea Harriers claimed second and third place in the Men’s category at the Gloucester 10K. Michael Kallenberg (Swansea Harriers) finished second with a time of 32:51.8, he was followed home by Matthew Rees (Swansea Harriers) in third in a time of 33:42.4.
