Cardiff Half Marathon, 1 of October

The 20 edition of the Cardiff Half Marathon took place on Sunday, with a record-breaking number of registrations, with 27,000 in total. The Super Half also hosted the Welsh Half Marathon Championships, which saw Adam Bowden (Bridgend Athletics) and Beth Kidger (Brighton Phoenix) earn Welsh titles.

Bowden beat out Rhodri Owen (Meirionydd Running Club) and Adam Bull (Pontypridd Roadents) to claim the title in 1:07:00.

In her first half marathon outing, Kidger finished ninth in the overall women’s race, edged out Anna Bracegirdle (Salford Harriers) and Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents) on route to the title, finishing in 1:14:11.

Kidger shared post-race:

“I was on my own at the start because I was trying to be sensible with the pace as this is my first real half marathon.

“It was so nice having the crowds all the way around and the support was amazing which helped. The fact it’s mainly flat really helped as well and I definitely want to do more half marathons in the future.”
