Gwent Cross Country League, 14 October
The first match of the 2023/24 John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League took place on Saturday in Pembrey Country Park.
In the senior men’s race Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) was the first athlete home with a time of 28:54. Kurt Taylor (Bristol & West Athletic Club) was the second athlete across the finish line finishing under the 30-minute mark with a time of 29:07. And Lloyd Sheppard-Brown (Cardiff Athletics) completed the top three positions with a time of 29:31.
Caryl Edwards (Swansea Harriers) took victory in the senior women’s race finishing in 26:02, Alaw Evans (Les Croupiers) was the second athlete home with 26:32, and Lucy Marland (Les Croupiers) took third in 26:47.

North Wales Cross Country League, 14 October
The North Wales Cross Country League took place at Treborth, Bangor on Saturday.
In the senior men’s race, Janos Vranek (Aberystwyth University) took victory, followed by Rhodri Owen (Meirionydd) in second and Daniel Husbands (Shrewsbury AC) in third.
In the senior women’s race, Nia Teifi Rees (Aberystwyth Uni) took first in 22:26, Martha Owen (Deeside AC) took second with 22:50 and Olivia Ashton (Deeside AC) completed the top three positions with 24:19.

AJ Bell Great South Run, 15 October
At the AJ Bell Great South Run, James Heneghan (Pontypridd Roadents) finished in 15 position, also finishing under the 50 minute mark, with a time of 49:39.
European City Athletics Challenge, 14 October
Dinas Caerdydd travelled to Glasgow on Saturday to compete at the European City Athletics Challenge, where they faced Glasgow, Helsinki, Brussels and Berlin.
Dinas Caerdydd came away with a bronze medal in the team standings.
Luca Phillips (Cardiff Archers) took victory in the long jump with a distance of 6.88m, another victory came from Sophie Lisk (Cardiff Archers) in the women’s 60m hurdles with a time of 8.96 seconds.
There was silver for Jessica Mantle (Cardiff Athletics) in the women’s 60 m with a new personal best time of 7.73 seconds. Megan Taylor (Cardiff Archers) took second in the women’s long jump, jumping 5.24m.
