British Athletics Cross Challenge

The second round of the British Athletics Cross Challenge returned this weekend, in Milton Keynes, after a fantastic opening event in Cardiff last month. A number of Welsh athletes took part in the event, with many using this event as an opportunity prepare for the European Cross Country Trials, happening in Liverpool in two weeks.

In the Senior Women’s race, Jenny Nesbitt (Cardiff) matched her 2nd place in Cardiff, with another 2nd place finish. In the Senior Men’s equivalent, Nathan Jones (Cardiff) finished in 32nd place.

The Junior Men’s race was stacked with Welsh talent, with 3 athletes finishing well inside the top 20. Osian Perrin (Menai) lead them home with a fantastic 3rd place finish, followed by Ben Miles (Cardiff) and Lloyd Sheppard Brown (Cardiff) in 14th and 18th. In the Junior Women’s race, Beth Hardman (Archers) finished 42nd.

Making the long journey from Swansea worth her while, Libby Hale ran away with the win in the U13 girls race.

Gwent League

Dan Nash (Cardiff) won the Senior Men’s race in the second round of the Gwent League, this time held in Brecon. Finishing closely behind him was Matthew Edwards (Cardiff), with Phillip Matthews (Parc Bryn Bach Runners) finishing in 3rd. Ellie Wallace (North Somerset) secured a large lead in the Women's race, finishing 35seconds ahead of Lauren Cooper (Parc Bryn Bach Runners) and Chelsea Creek (Bristol and West).

Dafydd Jones (Camarthen) won the u20 Mens race, with Moli Lyons (Cardiff) winning the Womens's equivalent.
