NORTH WALES JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT OPEN – DEESIDE, NOVEMBER 1
Athletes aged from under-11 to under-15 took part in the North Wales Junior Development Open at the Deeside Indoor Athletics Track.
Among the stand out performers were Sienna Hughes (Colwyn Bay) who won the under-13 girls and boys long jump with 4.30m and the under-13 girls and boys 60m in 8.30.
Hughes was also third in the under-13 boys and girls shot put with 6.63m. That event was won by Celt Jones (Menai Track and Field) with 7.52m. Jones also claimed third place finishes in the long jump and the 60m.
There were a number of other excellent performances throughout the competition.
RICHARD BURTON 10K 2025 – CWMAVON, NOVEMBER 2
There were Olympians, Commonwealth Games stars and World Athletics Championships competitors on the podiums at this year’s Richard Burton 10K on Sunday morning.
The women’s race was won in convincing fashion by Paris Olympics marathoner Clara Evans-Graham (Pontypridd Roadents).
The Welsh marathon record holder crossed the line in 33:32, a minute and a half ahead of Olivia Tsim (Pontypridd Roadents) who has won a number of events, including the Llanelli and Caerphilly 10Ks, this year.
Third place in 37:03 went to Great Britain mountain running international Eden O’Dea (Deeside AC) who has also enjoyed an excellent 2025.
The men’s race saw Commonwealth Games marathoner Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) follow up his win last year with another victorious performance, leading the field home in 29:25.
Griffiths, who is Wales’ second fastest marathon runner of all time, was followed home by Swansea Harriers team mate Jonathan Butler, who clocked 30:21.
The Swansea club made it a clean sweep of the men’s podium as two-time World Athletics Championships marathoner and Commonwealth Games competitor Josh Griffiths finished third in 31:42.
The event, which saw around 3,000 entries, was also the fifth and final race of the Welsh 10KM Road Race Series, which saw Dewi Griffiths and O’Dea leading the respective standings as they took to the start line.
CARDIGAN MAYORS 10K – NOVEMBER 2
The Cardigan Mayors 10K is run over an undulating route around the town and finishes with a fast downhill section.
And it was David Cole (Cardigan RC) who sped to victory in a winning time of 34:05, ahead of Ollie George (Sarn Helen) in 34:47, with Dylan Lewis (Sarn Helen) third in 36:22.
The first female finisher was Polly Summers, who crossed the line in 39:30. Sian Jones (TROTS) was second in 40:03, while Lucy Richards (Swansea Harriers) was third in 42:35.
