On Sunday 9th June, a Welsh quartet of Rob Samuel, Mark Hopkinson, Richard Roberts, and Alun Williams made their way over to Brittany, France to compete in the 26km trail race of the Trail de Geurledan. Along with 1000 other competitors the Welsh team ran around the small steep paths surrounding the lake but it was Wales that took the overall team win.

All athletes had strong individual performances too. Rob Samuel took the individual gold medal for the race and teammate Mark Hopkinson took the bronze. Richard Roberts finished 15th with Alun Williams finished 18th  so the whole team finished within the top 20.

Roberts, speaking about the weekend, said "It was very successful, Rob Samuel finished 1st and Mark Hopkinson 3rd in the 26 km race. I finished 15th with Alun Williams in 18th. Wales won the team prize too!"
