15/07/2025 00:00, In Blog /
Welsh Athletics are delighted to announce the team of athletes selected to compete at the SIAB T&F in Derby on July 19, 2025.
Andrew Jenkins, Welsh Schools Support Officer, shared:
Many of the most exciting young athletes from across Great Britain and Ireland will be competing in Derby on Saturday 19th July 2025. A strong Welsh selection will take on national teams representing England, Scotland and Ireland at the Schools International Athletic Board’s (SIAB) U17 Track and Field International. The Welsh team is led by captains Darcy Coslett (Bryngwyn School) and Toby Lemon (Hawarden High School). The majority of athletes selected for the Welsh team are from the middle age grouping (Under 17s) with a small number of outstanding Juniors (Under 15s) given the opportunity to gain experience of this level of competition for the first time. Half of the Under-17 athletes selected for Derby gained their places automatically thanks to gold medal winning performance at the WSAA Championships at Aberdare on Saturday 5th July. In 2024 home advantaged helped at Carmarthen with over 20 medals won across the team, we will be hoping to get close to this total again at Derby with the team selected which includes several highly ranked athletes in the UK. WSAA are very grateful to the athletes, parents, coaches and PE teachers who have supported them along the way to getting into the Welsh National team, we wish all the athletes the very best of luck.
