After another weekend of amazing weather here in Wales, the #SupportYourClub series continues to highlight the amazing things happening across the sport and also a call to action with things that you can do to get involved in supporting your club.
Rhymney Valley AC
From the club that always seems to be active and always taking on new challenges, something this weekend saw the club (and the wider community) undertake the ‘RVAC ‘Rob’s Relay’ Virtual Challenge’ with those taking part undertaking any physical activities (walk, bike, skip, row, scoot, crawl!) or varying distances over the course of two days raising money for St David’s Hospice Care.
Funds are being raised for this worthwhile cause via JustGiving and the initiative has raised close to £3000 to date.
Swansea Harriers AC
The West Wales club have a range of activities taking place, engaging with their members. From Virtual Events, a 2km Club Challenge, Talent ID activities, Junior Challenges to collating the All-Time Track & Field Dream Teams - there is a huge amount of activity with plenty of fun being had along the way!
How You Can Get Involved: Call to Action
This week is Volunteers Week (1st June - 7th June) and over the last week we have seen nominations coming in from athletics clubs and running groups across Wales. There is still time to get your nominations in for the fantastic volunteers that help to deliver activities throughout the year. We will be featuring as many of the nominations as we possibly can.
- Say ‘Thank You’:
Our most simple activity to get involved with during Volunteers Week… why not say ‘Thank You’ to someone within your club that you appreciate. Someone that goes above and beyond and has been there to support you. Tis can be via email, a personal telephone call or shout it from the rooftops via social media. If using the socials, don’t forget to use the hashtags #VolunteersWeek and #SupportYourClub in your post.
- Sign up for the next #SupportYourClub webinar:
The next #SupportYourClub webinar is taking place on Wednesday 3rd June (6.30pm) for clubs and the focus will be on ‘Preparing for Life after COVID-19’. For more information and details of how to sign up can be found here.
