Welsh Athletics were sad to hear of the passing of WILLIAM GEORGE PRYCE

Obituary provided by Board member, Benrie Plain:

Bill passed away at home on July 26th, aged 84. Beloved husband of Sylvia, Bill will be forever in the thoughts of family and friends.

Bill was originally a member of Roath Harriers and then Cardiff AAC. He wasa regular and valuable team member of the Cardiff Road and Cross Country Teams during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, travelling to many races around Great Britain.

He was one of the 'legends' of the racing scene, and was respected and loved by everyone who knew him. He had a unique sense of humour, a very funny man and everyone loved his company.

His best marathon time was a very respectable 2 hrs 32 mins in the Maxol marathon in Manchester in 1971 completing the team with Bernie Plain and Mike Critchley where they won Bronze medal in the AAAs Marathon Campionship Team Award.

Rest in Peace Bill. You will be missed by all your team members at Cardiff AAC, and the wider running community.

A great and unique character!
