Inter-Schools Championships pairs with the Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships in Brecon

The 44th Welsh Inter-Schools Cross Country Championships will take place alongside the 22nd Welsh Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

The combined fixture returns to the Penlan Arena in Brecon using a modified course that will provide a spectator friendly Continental style Cross Country course.

Alaw Beynon-Thomas will return to defend her title from 2019, competing for West Wales and backed up by team mate and 2019 third placer, Megan Carter Davies.

Lauren Cooper of East Wales was fourth last time and will lead her team along with Donna Morris who has claimed a haul of race wins recently including at the Richard Burton 10k.  

Rebecca Evans will head the South Wales team here. East Wales were the overall winners hear last time.

Dewi Griffiths is the outstanding entry in the men’s race. The seven-time Welsh Cross Country Champion and 2016 Uk Inter-Counties Champion will be competing for his native West Wales.

Matthew Edwards of South Wales will return to defend his title from 2019, backed up by Larry Ryan who was the winner of the Senior Boys Welsh Schools title at the venue in 2019.

Samia Jones will compete for North Wales in the u20 women's race and was the Welsh Schools Champion here last year and the U17 Champion at the venue in November 2019.

Iwan Thomas is the only returning title winner from the 2019 Inter-Schools Competition, competing for Glan Y Mor Comprehensive School and for West Wales in the Inter-Regional Championships.

Libby Hale of Bishopston Comprehensive School & the West Wales Region will be in action a week on from claiming an impressive victory at the British Athletics Milton Keynes Cross Challenge.

Action at the Penlan Arena begins at 11:30.
