Welsh Athletics endurance stars contiune to shine as athletes are named in the GB squad for the World Half.

Clara Evans’ (Chris Jones) growing form has resulted in her earning her first Great British vest. Evans has earned her vest following some great performances over the 5K at the Podium 5K, Cardiff parkrun and Cardiff Sunset Road Race where she showed incredible speed running 16:21 just shy off her PB and her Half Marathon performance in Larne, where she ran a new personal best of 72:21.

"I’m really excited about the opportunity to run for Great Britain in the World Half Marathon Championships. I’ve been trying to keep my training as consistent as I can through the strange year that we’ve had and the consistency has paid off for me. I’ve been racing relatively well and I was happy with my half marathon pb out in Northern Ireland. It was relatively windy out there and I was quite isolated for most of the race so I’m hoping that we can get some good conditions in Poland and there’ll certainly be a lot of depth so I’d love to cap it off with a pb before I go into a winter’s marathon block ready for the spring next year."

“I am delighted for Clara Evans call up to the world half marathon team gaining her first GB senior selection, Clara has shown considerable improvement over the past twelve months and will now have her eye firmly set on the commonwealth games marathon standard in 2021.

Unfortunately, there is no World Half for Charlotte Arter (Chris Jones) this year. Arter has to withdraw from the World Half as a precaution and is managing her return to competition from injury.

Evans will be joined by fellow Welsh Athlete Kristian Jones (Dundee Hawkhill), who clocked a personal best of 63:09 at February’s Barcelona Half Marathon and Welsh hub based British Under-23 half marathon record holder Jake Smith (James Thie; Cardiff), who was third in 62:00 at the Vitality Big Half.

It's great to see Welsh athlete Kristian Jones and Welsh hub-based athlete Jake Smith been selected for this year’s World Half Marathon Championships.”

A huge congratulations to all athletes chosen to compete!
