During the last 12 months, there have been a number of facilities developments across Wales including both new high-quality athletics track installations as well as refurbishments to existing facilities.

We would like to thank all operators, partners as well as clubs that have worked with to support the facility developments over the last 12 months including; Sport Wales, Coleg Cambria, Carmarthen County Borough Council, Powys County Borough Council, Brynmawr Foundation School, Deeside Amateur Athletics Club, Brecon Athletics Club, Blaenau Gwent Athletics Club & Aman Valley Harriers.

Chris Moss, Head of Development & Participation shared:

To see the development of both new and existing facilities across the country is a huge positive for the sport. Many of the facility development that have taken place over the last 12 months have seen significant investment from a number of partners, including Sport Wales, for which we are extremely grateful.

As part of the wider strategy for the sport, Welsh Athletics are in the process of publishing a new Facilities Plan which outlines key objectives in order to support the existing facilities infrastructure as well as encourage investment in new facility developments.

Athletics has the ability to transform lives and and as a sport we want to see safe, inclusive and welcoming environments for people to train, participate as well as perform. We know that having first class facilities in which people can be both active, but also excel and fulfil their full potential is hugely significant in the development of the sport at all levels.

Throughout 2024, we anticipate that there will be a number of additional facility development projects and upgrades to venues, continuing the positive momentum of the last 12 months.
