Coach Education Dates

As restrictions ease from the latest lockdown, we are pleased to announce the return of Coach Education.

The upcoming plans to allow 15 people indoors and 30 people outdoors allows for us to organise courses that will be a great experience to share with your coaching peers whilst remaining safe and conforming to the Welsh Government guidelines surrounding COVID.

The new online format that we have introduced for the Leadership in Running Fitness course over the past year has proved to be popular allowing coaches to complete the course irrelevant of geographic circumstances and in their own club or group environment. Whilst we continue with the virtual classrooms, the upcoming easing of restrictions means that we can see the return of the part online, part face-to-face course. This involves leaders completing self-paced online modules before meeting tutors to learn the practical elements of what it takes to become a leader. The Coach in Running Fitness course that we have had to rearrange due to various lockdowns will now go ahead in June.

The upcoming easing of restrictions around organised activities also means that we can recommence the Coaching Assistant course. This is aimed towards prospective Track and Field coaches. The course with be delivered in a blended format with course participants attending 2x4-hour virtual classroom sessions across a weekend, before meeting for a separate face-to-face practical day where they will have the opportunity to put into practice their newly gained coaching knowledge and skills. We also have a virtual Leading Athletics course planned. This course is perfect for parents or young individuals involved at the club, who wish to gain an introduction to leading athletics activities and perhaps have an appetite to get into coaching at a later stage.

As with the Coach in Running Fitness course, we will also see the return of the Athletics Coach qualification for those who wish to progress on from the Coaching Assistant course which will follow in a similar format to previous courses. Day 3 of the Athletics Coach qualification is now completed through a series of online modules, allowing coaches to progress in their own time.

Finally, for teachers who are wishing to know more about how they can bring Athletics activities into their classrooms, we have a number of courses aimed at Primary Education and Secondary Education.
