Cardiff Throws Series offering Hammer and Discus competition opportunities
19/02/2019 00:00, In Track & Field /
The Cardiff Throws Series is offering a number of Hammer and Discus competition opportunities to developing athletes whilst getting parents and spectators involved in the competition in a unique way.
The Series is new to the Welsh capital, and will offer a total of nine throws competitions over the coming months - providing athletes with an increased number of opportunities to improve on their performances in a competitive environment.
Athletes aged 15 and upwards will be eligible to compete at the Cardiff Throws events, with athletes required to have met the following standards in order to be eligible for competition:
Event | Male | Female |
Discus | 26m | 22.50m |
Hammer | 24m | 23m |
Competition is invitation-based, and an email expressing an interest to compete should be sent to cardiffthrows@yahoo.com. A maximum of 10 athletes will be allowed per event, and entry will be based on a first come first served basis with a confirmation email being sent to those athletes accepted to compete.
Additionally, parents bringing athletes to the competition will be required to help officiate, and will be contacted prior to the event to be informed of their duties (for example; collection of equipment). This assistance is needed to ensure the competition runs smoothly, and anyone not turning up to the competition may result in an event being cancelled due to the lack of officials.
The first event in the Cardiff Throws Series will be held at Cardiff International Stadium, Leckwith on Sunday 24th February. More information and the dates for the following Cardiff Throws events can be found on our Competitions Calendar
Further information and updates ahead of the first event on Sunday 24th February can be found on the event Facebook page
