The Caerphilly 10km returns this weekend, incorporating the Welsh 10km Championships. Set in the shadow of the spectacular Caerphilly Castle, the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k will both start and finish on Crescent Road. Runners will have the opportunity to run a good time on a relatively flat course with some undulating points.
The course record is currently held by Matt Clowes from 2018 who passed the finish line in 30 minutes and 33 seconds, and athletes this year will be looking to break it!
Top entrants for the Welsh Championships include Dewi Griffiths (Swansea) who recently ran a gun to tape victory at the Great Birmingham Run of 65:10. He will look to continue his good form as he heads into the summer and get close to his 28:27 personal best. Matthew Edwards (Cardiff) is also entered, and he beat Griffiths this winter over the cross. With a personal best of 30:21 he will also be looking to have a strong run, and it could be a great head to head out front.
Lloyd Sheppard-Brown (Cardiff) is also down to run and comes into the race with a personal best of 30:56. He has been putting together some strong performances this year, so watch out for him!
Lauren Cooper (Parc Bryn Bach) has just returned from America, having raced in multiple states over the 3000m Steeplechase. Her results show that she will be a force to be reckoned with and her 34:46 personal best could be looking in danger. Alaw Beynon-Thomas (Les Croupiers) will look to be her main rival, and with a personal best of 34:57 it could be a very close affair!
The race kicks off at 10am and it is set to be a fantastic event! For more information, click here
