The first day of the 2026 Welsh Under-14, Under-16, Under-20 and Para Outdoor Track and Field Championships delivered in fine style with some outstanding performances.
The action literally got off to a flying start in the first field competition of the day - the Under-16 boys hammer.

The first of the wheelchair/frame running races – the 200m – saw a head to head between two outstanding NDP T54 racers – Under-18 Toby Richardson (Yate and District AC) and Under-20 Owain Terrell (Newport Harriers).
It was TCS London Mini Marathon winner Richardson, who took the honours in a new PB of 28.51, outpacing Terrell who crossed the line in a PB of 32.13. Under-16 T34 athlete Imogen Ashwell-Rice (Newport Harriers) was third in 48.17.
Later in the day, Richardson completed the double with a second PB as he surged to 100m victory in 17.41. Once again, Terrell was second in 19.52. Ashwell-Rice was third in 28.69.
In the seated shot, NDP F34 thrower Jac Sheehan (Aberystwyth AC) produced his best distance of the day with his final effort where he recorded 8.53m. While F56 athlete Ellie Mai Bowen (Cardiff Archers) enjoyed a best of 6.28m. Bowen won the seated discus with a best of 17.73m.
