What a fantastic day we had on Saturday at St Cyres, with glorious weather setting the perfect backdrop for two brilliant courses: our Guide Running Workshop and Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course. Both cohorts were absolutely superb, engaged, enthusiastic, and fully committed throughout the day. It was great to see such positive energy and a real willingness to learn, share experiences, and develop new skills.
Our Guide Running Workshop participants threw themselves into a brilliant -hands-on session, focused on opening up running in a fun, inclusive and truly rewarding way. Together, they built confidence in the skills needed to safely guide visually impaired runners, exploring simple communication techniques, practising guiding on the move, and finding practical ways to support and connect with others out on the run. All of this took place in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where learning and laughter went hand in hand. As one visually impaired runner who recently attended one of our workshop beautifully put it, guides are “the unmasked superheroes” of our sport and this cohort embraced that spirit throughout the workshop.

Our LiRF practical session candidates brought brilliant energy, getting stuck in, sharing ideas, and really embracing what it means to lead fun, safe and inclusive group runs. Together they explored how to bring people together, plan enjoyable sessions, and support runners of all abilities so everyone can get the most out of being part of the group. With plenty of laughs, practical tips, and great conversations along the way, the candidates left feeling confident, inspired, and ready to take their first steps into leading runs and making a real difference in their running communities.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success, Our Tutor Hannah Baulch said ‘the positive atmosphere made it a real pleasure to deliver!’
We’re now looking ahead to this weekend, where we’ll be running both courses again in Deeside. If you’re interested in developing your skills, supporting others, and being part of a growing and inclusive running community, we’d love to see you there.
