ABOUT ERYRI/SNOWDONIA

Covering an area of 827 square miles and established in 1951, Snowdonia is the second largest National Park in the UK and home to the highest peaks in the UK outside of Scotland. From its 37 miles of beautiful beaches where you can surf, to rugged, ridge-laden mountain peaks and an array of pristine lakes in-between: there is something to please every outdoor enthusiast here! Keen to learn a bit more about beautiful Snowdonia? A great place to start is the Snowdonia National Park Authority website HERE.

If you care about conserving the natural beauty and diversity of the area, why not join the Snowdonia Society? They offer lots of volunteering opportunities for those who wish to get 'stuck in' and make a difference to this wonderful national park and if you're a member, you'll be eligible for 15% off any APEX Running event! A great resource for learning more about the fauna and flora of the area is Mike Raine's book: Nature of Snowdonia, available to purchase HERE.

UK television company ITV recently aired an amazing six-part documentary series called 'Return to the Mountain', capturing the breath-taking beauty of Snowdon and the lives of the people who live there. Their tales reveal the mountain’s mood, its magic and the challenges of living on the busiest mountain in the world. You can watch the repeats on ITV online HERE.

If you want to view the current weather conditions on Snowdon, you can view a live web feed HERE.
