Sirhowy Challenge 2026

The Sirhowy Challenge is a 10-mile multi-terrain race that climbs 1500ft to Machen Trig Point!  

Join us for our iconic event, taking in a scenic, challenging loop of the Sirhowy valley and the surrounding area. 

All participants must be over the age of 17 on race day. Entry fees are £14.00 for UK Athletics registered runners and £16.00 for non-affiliated runners. There is a small booking fee.   

Welsh Athletics Race Licence applied for under UKA Rules.

All finishers will receive a drinks token.

The race awards ceremony will be held at The Progressive Club, Ynysddu.  

Prizes for: 

  • First Male and Female 

  • First Male and Female Vet 

  • First Male and Female Super Vet 

  • First Male and Female Team (3 to score) 

Race HQ will be at the Ynysddu Hotel which is just a short walk to the start line.  

Toilet facilities are available at the Progressive Club, Ynysddu  

Entries close on 2nd May 2026. There are just 200 places available, so don't miss out! Race day information will be emailed to all participants before the race.  

Race numbers can be collected from the registration desk on race day.   

All running abilities are welcome, however the course is undulating and unsuitable for wheelchair athletes. We will ask you for a predicted race time on registration, this is to help us plan locations and timing of our volunteers. 

Once entered there are no cancellations or deferrals. If you wish to transfer your place to another runner you can do so via your Entry Central login before 16th May 2026.
