This proposal meeting will outline a pilot club-led open track and field event series for Summer 2027 aimed at U20, Senior and Masters athletes. The model is designed to create a relaxed and accessible competition environment that sits below the intensity and formality of higher-profile meetings such as BMC or Run With The Wind-style events, while still maintaining appropriate standards of safety, licensing, organisation and athlete experience.
Welsh Athletics would support clubs to deliver localised Level 1-style events, using the OpenTrack platform, existing club volunteer networks and, where possible, access to Welsh Athletics competition equipment.
Events should follow the relevant track and field licensing process and be delivered to the appropriate standard for the agreed competition level. The proposed model assumes Level 1-style delivery, with no photo finish requirement, unless Welsh Athletics and the host club agree otherwise.
This initial proposal meeting aims to gather interested parties to further discuss the proposal and gather interest in hosting or supporting pilot events.
