Bio: Arwyn Davies is a Welsh Middle-Distance Coach based in South Wales. Arwyn has experience coaching athletes of all levels from junior event group level through to Senior International level.
His coaching alumni include Jimmy Watkins (Former GB international and 6th in the 800m at the World Indoor Championships PB: 1:46.33); Joe Thomas (800m CWG finalist, former GB international PB 1:46.20) and current rising star of Welsh Athletics Benjamin Reynolds (Welsh U17 record holder 1500m PB 3:50.19).
Aims of the session:
- To understand the profiles of 800m runners and how this can impact on the training programme
- To gain an insight into the phases of training of an 800m runner and the rationale behind these phases
- To explore the types of sessions used within a given training phase of an 800m programme
