This weekend sees the Welsh U13, U17 and U20 Championships take place at Newport Stadium. Held over 2 days, with 46 track events and 41 field events set to take place, it is going to be a thrilling weekend of action.

Leading the entry in the U17 Girls 1,500m is current leader in the Welsh U17 rankings Beca Bown (Menai), but she will not have it all her own way as U15 Welsh 1,500m record holder Libby Hale (Swansea) and Bethan Hardman (Cardiff Archers) are also entered.

With a personal best of 7.01m, Ben Parker (Aberdare) looks to be the outstanding favourite in the U17 Boy’s long jump, with Iolo Grant (Cardiff Archers) also entered.

Sitting second on the Welsh U13 All Time list for the event, Aliyah Afolabi (Cardiff Archers) looks set to be the one to beat in the U13 Girl’s 100m. Whereas in the the U13 Boy’s 100m, Reagan McCarthy (Cardiff) heads the entries.

Entering the competition with a personal best of 1.95m, Osian Roberts (Carmarthen) will go against Iolo Grant (Cardiff Archers) who’s cleared a height of 1.89m.

Being the only man to have broken 50s in the field, Noah Ernest (Cardiff Archers) will start as favourite, but look out for Nathan Scott (Aberdare) who might challenge for gold.

With a personal best of 4:43.7, Lucas Howard Machado (Cardiff Archers) will be looking to walk away Welsh champion in the U13 boy’s 1,500m, but will have to look out for Tom Garrod (Newport) and Lewis Davies (Deeside). In the U13 girl’s 1,500m it is hard to look past Welsh Schools Cross Country Champion, Bryony Boyce (Cardiff) who’s personal best of 4:44.43 is nearly 30 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Aron Tugwell (Cardiff Archers) is the leading entry in the U17 boy’s 200m, with a best of 22.09s, but he will be challenge by Kane Smart (Colwyn Bay) who is making the long journey to Newport, who has a personal best of 22.79s.
