This Saturday 4 July will see the 77th edition of the Welsh Schools National Track & Field Championships take place at the Ron Jones Stadium, Aberdare.
Over 400 pupils will compete across a busy timetable for their School Districts hoping to be crowned team and individual Champions. There will be 8 School Districts competing; Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan, Dyfed, Eryri, Glamorgan Valleys, North East Wales, Powys and South East Wales. It was Cardiff and the Vale that claimed the most age group titles at last year's Championships, taking home 4 in total, whilst Afan Nedd Tawe claimed the other two.
Many pupils will be looking to gain selection for the Welsh Schools team as a result of their performances on Saturday for the Schools International at Belfast, Northern Ireland on Saturday 18 July. Thank you to all the PE staff for organising their district trials and pulling together teams for Aberdare and we wish all pupils taking part this weekend good luck and we hope you enjoy the day.
