Weekend RoundUp - Inter-Schools / Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships

22/11/2021 00:00, I Mewn Blog / Cross Country /

On Saturday 20th November, the Welsh Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships were held with a combined fixture with the Welsh Inter-Schools Championships.

West Wales was able to prize the overall title from the South Region who claimed the accolade in 2019.

Incredible performances came from Matthew Edwards (James Thie) where he won the race ahead of Dewi Griffiths (Kevin Evans) who led the majority of the way. Edwards put some distance between himself and the rest of the field on the final lap, claiming victory in 29:45 over the undulating 9,350m course and leading his South Wales team to the men’s title.

In the women's race, Lauren Cooper (Nicola Haines-Jones) was a comfortable winner, improving from a fourth-place finish last time and leading her East Team to victory.

In the U20s race, Lloyd Sheppard-Brown (Bleddyn Jones) and Sohpia Harrison took the titles with strong performances.
