Liverpool Cross Challenge, 25 November

There were strong performances from Welsh athletes at the Liverpool Cross Challenge on Saturday.

In the second race of the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series, Libby Hale (Swansea Harriers) picked up another second-place finish, with a time of 10:32.

In the joint U20 & U17 women’s race Moli Lyons (Cardiff Athletics) finished fifth overall with a time of 15:24.

Iwan Thomas (Carmarthen & District Harriers) put in a strong performance in the U17 men’s race, finishing inside of the top 10 in seventh.

Dafydd Jones (Swansea Harriers) also enjoyed a great second outing in the Cross Challenge series, finishing eleventh in the U20 men’s race.

In the senior women’s race, Melissa Courtney-Bryant (Poole AC) also finished inside of the top 10, in ninth with a time of 27:28.

In the senior men’s short course, Justin Davies (Team Bath AC) finished eleventh and James Heneghan (Pontypridd Roadents) finished in thirteenth position.

Running GP Oulton Park Marathon, 26 November

On Sunday in Chesire, Daniel Rothwell (Swansea) took victory in the GP Oulton Park Marathon in a time of 2:34:11.

“David Alun Williams” North Wales Cross Country League, 25 November

The North Wales Cross Country League headed to Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Joanna Henderson (Denbigh Harriers) was the first athlete home in a time of 18:58. Henderson was followed by Martha Owen (Deeside AC) in second with a time of 19:15, and Gemma Moore (Eryri Harriers) completed the top three finishers with a time of 20:17.

In the senior men's race, Janos Vranek (Aberystwyth University) took victory with a time of 24:56. Matthew Collins (Oswestry Olympians) took second and Daniel Husbands (Shrewsbury AC) completed the top three positions. There were good performances from Meirionydd with Russell Bentley and Tomos Roberts who both finished in the top 5.

The Elan Valley 10 Mile, 25 November

The Elan Valley 10 Mile race returned on Saturday, taking in a scenic, challenging loop of Elan Valley and the surrounding area.

In the senior women’s race, Polly Summers (Sarn Helen) took victory in a time of 1:09:40.

While Ben Kennedy (Les Croupiers) finished second overall, but first of the Welsh entrants with a time of 58:43.
