Welsh Inter-Schools / Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships, 18 November

The Inter-Schools / Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships headed to Dolerw Park in Newtown on Saturday.

Hundreds of children turned out for the primary school races hosted by the URDD, and there were great victories for Madison Hughes (North Wales) and Lucas Salvage (East Wales) who took the U15 Inter-School titles.

There were also great performances from Libby Hale (West Wales) in the U15 girl's race and in the U20 men’s race Aled Breeze (North Wales)

It was Alaw Evans (West Wales) who took victory in the senior women’s race to continue a great season of running. Evans finished in 23:47 minutes. But it was South Wales that took victory in the senior women’s race.

Tom Wood (North Wales) claimed the senior men’s title. Wood and Adam Bull (South Wales) ran alongside each other for the majority of the race, but it was Wood who pulled away at the end to secure the victory in 33:30 minutes. Wood also led North Wales to victory in the team event in the senior men’s category.

Conwy Half Marathon, 19 November

The scenic Conwy Half Marathon returned on Sunday.

Alison Campbell (Conwy) was the first Welsh female runner across the finish line, completing the 13 miles in 1:22:05. Whilst Ryan Davies (Wrexham AAC) was the first Welsh male athlete to finish, with a time of 1:14:29.
