Cardiff Cross Challenge

The first major fixture of the British Cross Challenge series once again returned to Cardiff for another fantastic renewal at Llandaff Fields in the heart of the city. Top athletes from around the globe headed to the capital city for the 26th edition of the event. 

Athletes of all ages from local clubs lined-up alongside international talents in the fixture which marked the third World Athletics Gold Label Cross Country tour event, the only stop of the tour in the UK. 

The event also hosted the inaugural Elite Mile sponsored by SportsShoes.com.

Gwent Cross Country League

The Gwent Cross Country League returned for its second fixture of the season at the Cardiff Cross Challenge.

Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) finished third overall with a time of 30:44 to lead the standings after two meeting. Griffiths took victory in the first fixture a few weeks ago in Pembrey Country Park, and leads the standings with 1010 points joint with Kurt Taylor (Bristol & West Athletics Club).

There was another great performance by Tom Wood (Oxford University), who finished fifth in 30:55 minutes.

In the women’s race, Jenny Nesbitt (Pontypridd Roadents) topped the Welsh runners finishing in second in 22:09 minutes, Nesbitt was shortly followed by fellow Welsh athlete Cari Hughes (Cardiff Athletics) in 22:56.

Alaw Evans (Les Croupiers) tops the women’s standings after two fixtures with 665 points.

RESULTS


BMAF Cross Country International

There was Welsh success at the BMAF Cross Country International in Glasgow over the weekend, with some great performances from the Welsh Masters team.

Swansea Harrier Ifan Lloyd was the star Welsh performer at the BMAF Cross Country International at Tollcross Park Glasgow with a fantastic run to finish second in the M60 category. Not only did Ifan win individual silver medal but he also helped his team mates to silver in the team race.
