The Queen's Baton Relay will begin its 5 day journey across Wales tomorrow as it will arrive in Anglesey from Northern Ireland. It will travel to towns, villages and key landmarks across North, Mid and South Wales, before being handed over to the host nation, England, ahead of the Opening Ceremony of Birmingham 22 on July 28th.

Her Majesty the Queen launched the Birmingham 2022 Queens Baton Relay during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in October last year. Created in the West Midlands, the baton has been made from copper, aluminium and steel, and features a platinum strand in homage to Her Majesty the Queen in her Platinum Jubilee year.

Chris Jenkins, Commonwealth Games Wales CEO:

“The Queens Baton Relay is such an important event for us. It’s more than just a Relay. It’s an opportunity for us to visit communities across Wales, to use our fortunate position as a voice for the athletes, to get community support for our team as we go into a Games, and also an opportunity for us to support important world wide issues such as the environment, sustainability and encouraging more physical activity.”
