Parents in Sport Week - Volunteering

05/10/2021 00:00, I Mewn Blog / Club Notice Board /

Volunteers are the lifeblood of athletics. They are the everyday heroes who make running competitions, growing talent and providing opportunities possible. Become part of something special, gain skills and help your and other children fulfil their potential by become a parent Volunteer in their athletics club. There are a number of different roles and responsibilities that are available for parents entering the sport. Many parent volunteers progress through the various pathways of the sport, as well as the key roles and responsibilities within an existing club such as a committee member or team manager, the two most common routes are as either a coach or an official.

Volunteering can allow you to spend more time with your child as they put all the skills they are taught and learn into action, there are no tasks too small, and every little bit helps to make the club experience better for everyone involved.

An opportunity to volunteer after over a year lost to COVID disruptions, is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited for the return of the Cardiff Cross Challenge on Saturday 16th October at Llandaff Fields, incorporating the opening fixture in the 2021/2022 British Athletics Cross Challenge Series. We have various volunteer roles that you can help with at Cardiff including registration, marshalling, media, medal ceremonies, and many more. Role specific training will be provided on the day, to make sure you understand what's involved and support you.

  • You don’t need to compete to get close to the race action, find out more here
  • You can take a look at our volunteer registration form to see list of other cross-country events we have planned and when you can help this autumn and winter. Please let us know when you're available and preferred roles by registering here.
