Matt Willis & Charlotte Arter take gold at the Cardiff Cross Challenge and Cardiff Dominate First Gwent League Fixture

Cardiff Cross Challenge, Cardiff – October 12

Alongside British Athletics, Welsh Athletics hosted the annual Cardiff Cross Challenge in Llandaff Fields on Saturday with a massive turnout and plenty of exciting showdowns. There was great success for Wales, particualrly in the upper age group categories.

 

U20 Matthew Willis took the gold in his category providing Wales with their first gold medal of the day.

 

Charlotte Arter took gold in the women’s race with teammate and training partner Jenny Nesbitt coming behind her in second to take silver.

 

In the final race of the day, senior man Michael Ward took the bronze in a strong field with the top 5 all coming in just under 30 minutes.

John H Collins Gwent Cross Country League, Cardiff – September 12

On Saturday 12th October, the John J Collins Gwent Cross Country League took place alongside the Cardiff Cross Challenge in Llandaff Fields. The event was both exciting

Cardiff Athletics Club dominated the Senior Women’s race with a one-two win by Charlotte Arter and Jenny Nesbitt claiming large points for their club who now sit at the top of the table for the Senior Women category.

Cardiff AC also took wins in both U17 categories but missed out to Swansea Harriers in the U20 men and to Cardiff Archers in the U15 girls categories.

Aberystwyth Twin Peaks 7, Aberystwyth – September 13

The challenging Twin Peaks 7 took place in Aberystwyth yesterday.

In the men’s race Aberystwyth AC runner Owain Schiavone won in his home city in a time of 48:07. He was followed by U20 junior Isaac Ayres in 49:47.

In the women’s race it was Dee Jolly of Sarn Hellen Athletics Club in 56:43. The next Welsh lady home was Rhiannon Kamink from Aberystwyth University in 59:51.
