The Cardiff Half Marathon is one of the most exciting Half Marathon’s in Europe and it is set to host our Welsh Half Marathon Championships this Sunday 6th October.

This year the event was announced to become part of the European Super Half Marathon series alongside major cities Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen and Valencia. Each city was selected based on their quality, popularity, location, and their sustainability policies.

The elite races are looking to be close and exciting with Welshman Charlie Hulson looking strong to take the Welsh Half Marathon male Champion title. After setting a new personal best of 65:19 in the Copenhagen Half Marathon last month, Charlie will be hoping to replicate this performance Sunday in Cardiff to take home the gold medal. However, Cardiff AC runner Michael Kallenberg will be hoping to upset this after setting a new Half Marathon pb back in March of 66:40.

Welsh lady Alaw Beynon-Thomas is setting her sites on the Welsh Half Marathon female title. Alaw, who has already run two half marathons and a marathon this year has been running well and is likely to take home the gold medal in the women’s race this Sunday.

In the master’s category, Swansea Harriers’ Phil Matthews is looking in good form to take home the gold, clocking a new pb of 66:23 earlier this year.

The elite race starts at 10:00am
