Barry 40 rescheduled

01/02/2021 00:00, I Mewn Blog / Road / Track & Field /

We've received an update on the status of the Barry 40 mile ultra-distance track race:

We have always been extremely lucky with the organisation of the Barry Track 40 Miles / Marathon. In 2001 we managed to stage the race just days before foot and mouth prevented any races from being held, and last March we were again fortunate before the first lockdown due to COVID.

However, last weekend I came to the inescapable decision to postpone this year's event from its scheduled date of 7th March.  The local council, who been wonderfully supportive since the first edition in 1986, agreed to reschedule to Sunday 23 May, at 10 AM in Jenner Park (all other arrangements as before). They have stressed that this new date is still provisional, but I believe this now gives us a fighting chance. I didn't want to delay to the autumn due to a potential fixture clash.
