Last night, we were delighted to deliver a bespoke Guide Running Workshop in Colwyn Bay, with 15 attendees taking part to help strengthen guide running provision within the local running community.

The workshop provided a fantastic opportunity to bring together volunteers and runners who are passionate about making running more inclusive and accessible. Held in the sunshine, with an offshore breeze offering some welcome relief from the heat, it was a brilliant evening of learning, discussion and shared experiences. Our tutor, Jo, led the session and thoroughly enjoyed working with the group, helping attendees to build their skills, confidence and understanding of guide running.

It was especially encouraging to hear about the fantastic work already taking place within the guide running community at the local parkrun. It’s clear that a strong foundation has already been built in Colwyn Bay, with volunteers committed to supporting visually impaired runners and creating welcoming opportunities for everyone to get involved.

This workshop was designed to build on that excellent work, giving attendees the chance to further develop their skills and confidence while recognising and celebrating what is already being achieved locally. A special thank you must also go to Tony, who was instrumental in organising the workshop and bringing the event together for the parkrun and wider community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and engaging evening. It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm, openness to learning and commitment to making running accessible for all.

We look forward to seeing guide running continue to develop in Colwyn Bay and to supporting clubs and communities across Wales to grow inclusive running opportunities in the future.
