This weekend saw the first National Development (NDP) Camp of the 2021-22 season held at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff. The 2021-22 NDP is a fully inclusive programme for talented Welsh para and non para-athletes across all the event groups.  Over the weekend, Athletes and Coaches on the programme took part in Sport Psychology, Physical preparation and technical sessions.

There was also a session with Paralympic Gold medallist Aled Davies who talked about his pathway to being an elite athlete and athlete life. Over the next 9 months, athletes and coaches will be supported with a series of virtual and face to face opportunities that will look to support all-round athlete development.

The NDP will culminate in a competition opportunity during the summer season.

“It was fantastic to welcome athletes and coaches from across all the event groups to Cardiff last weekend for the first NDP opportunity. Athletes demonstrated great maturity and commitment in all the sessions during the camp. I would like to thank all the coaches, practitioners, interns and students who supported the delivery of the NDP this weekend and provided such a great experience for our talented young athletes.”
