The hugely succesful inaugural Cardiff 5k - Race for victory, took place on Saunda 1st May. The Whitchurch based event saw nearly 800 runners race around the streets of the village and onto Llandaff North before returning to finish in front of a large crowd.
Live music, street food and entertainment helped to make the event a memorable one.
Cardiff AAC's Tom Marshall was the first man home in 14:51. Marshall had passed the 4km mark with club mates Ieuan Thomas and Carwyn Jones, before making the race his own in the final stages. Thomas and Jones then took the remaining podium places in that order.

Charlotte Green (Bristol & West) took victory in the ladies race with a time of 17:31. Carys Hughes (Les Croupiers) improved her lifetime best to 17:57 for second place. Megan Bowen (Cardiff AAC) took the third lady prize.
The start of the inaugural Cardiff 5k - Race for victory
The innaugural Cardiff 5k - Race for Victory takes place on Sunday 1st of May in the popular Cardiff suburb of Whitchurch.
The race has attracted a field of 800 competitors made including beginners through to interrntaional athletes and will see them race around a closed road circuit of Whitchurch and Llandaff.
Top entries include the Cardiff AAC trio of Carwyn Jones, Ieuan Thomas and Tom Marshall. Danal Desta (Swansea Harriers) was recently the second fastest athlete at the Welsh Road Relay Championships and should also feature.
Charlotte Green (Bristol & West AC) and Carys Hughes (Les Croupiers) will look to lead the way in the ladies race.
In addition to the racing, the event will feature community based activities including live music.
The first ever CARDIFF 5K - Race for Victory takes place on Sunday 1st May 2016
The race starts at 7pm on Merthyr Road in Whitchurch Village, a leafy suburb of Cardiff.
Participants will be able to Race, Run, Jog or Walk this never before used 5K closed road route and either take part to raise funds for their chosen Charity or just for the Fun...the choice is theirs
Everybody who enters will receive a Limited Edition Cardiff 5K technical T-shirt which will feature the names of all those who take part
The event is a Race under the rules and regulations of Welsh Athletics, so it will be timed and official results will be posted.

The Runners Village is located in the centre of Whitchurch Village. This area houses all the amenities and will be the hub of the event. Facilities include;
