Lewis wins again to defend title

It was business as usual for race walker Heather Lewis (Pembrokeshire Harriers) with another win and another PB in the UKA Under 20 10km road championships on Saturday.

Defending the title she won last year, Heather dominated from the gun though her task was made easier when her main rival, last years No 1 Junior Woman, Lauren Whelan, (Manx Harriers) retired just before half way.

Heather continued to push the pace and was rewarded with her first sub 50 minute clocking for the 10km, stopping the clock at 49:51. This moves Heather up one place, to 9th, on the all time list, leapfrogging current Commonwealth Champion, Jo Jackson. The performance all but guarantees Heathers inclusion in the GB team for next months IAAF Race Walk World Cup, in Saransk, Russia.
