This year see the first edition of the new Run Wales Series, which will see the best road runners in Wales competing for the title of Overall Championship Challenge Series Winner. The scoring events will be held within the Welsh Road Running Championship races, ranging from the 5km up to the marathon.
The best three performances from the 5 races in the series count towards the overall title. Each race will award points starting from 50 for winning down to 1 point for the 50th place. The athlete with the highest points after the three events will be crowned Champion. In the event of a tie, the athletes head-to-head results will be used, and in case a tie still remains, the time difference in the head to heads will be used.
The series prize fund for the top three Women and Men are as follows:
- 1st place: £150
- 2nd place: £100
- 3rd place: £50
The race series:
- 17th April - Virgin London Marathon
- 7th May - Bridgend 5km
- 22nd May - Llandudno 10 miles
- 14th August - Merthyr Police 10km
- 16th October - Cardiff Half Marathon
All events to count towards the series must have been entered under normal Welsh championship guidelines by the individual athlete.
