The first league fixture of 2012 saw a low turnout from clubs, thanks must go to clubs who turned up, athletes, officials and helpers making the long journey to Deeside.
The day's activities were helped with a sunny day with a breeze to strong wind at times down the home straight, where there were 5 new Senior League records.
Shannon Malone U17W Deeside AAC with 12.13, breaking Danielle Barker's (Neath Harriers) record of 12.2 which has stood since 2003, Megan Rogers of Wrexham AC in the U20W 400m 57.18 broke Gail Lippett's (Wrexham AC) 2007 record of 59.0.
U20M Owen Smith continued his ongoing improvements in the 400m with 49.86 breaking Sam Conway (Cardiff AAC) 50.0 set in 2007, Daniel Blain of Carmarthen Harriers also in the U20 age group broke Dafydd Walters (Carmarthen Harriers) 2008 time of 14.9 with 14.86 in the 110m Hurdles.
Senior Women saw a new record for 5000m with Izzy Redfern of Colwyn Bay setting a new time of 19:03.8.

Wrexham AC took early advantage of the first match finishing with 673 pts, second saw newly promoted Colwyn Bay with Swansea Harriers 3rd with 415 pts, Deeside 386, Carmarthen Harriers 138, Newport Harriers 50 and Cardiff AAC 16, Barry & Vale the 8th club in this division did not make the trip.
Division 2 saw Brecon AC take the lead with 154 pts, Rhonnda AC 2nd with 140 pts, Llanelli AC with 126 and Pembroke finishing 4th with 62. Aberdare VAAC, Bridgend AC, Cwmbran Harriers and Neath Harriers who make up division 2 did not travel.
