Welsh Sports Hall Finals - Cwmbran

On Sunday 4th March, schoolchildren from across Wales will be competing for national honours at the Aviva Welsh Sportshall Athletics Finals taking place at Cwmbran Stadium.

In what promises to be a fun and action-packed event, teams representing the eight school districts across the nation will be vying for podium places and a coveted spot at the Aviva Sportshall UK Final 2012, which will be held on Saturday 21st April at the NEC Arena, Birmingham.

The best athletes from across Wales will take part in the adapted athletics events across both ‘track’ and field disciplines. The youngsters will follow in the footsteps of the likes of current Welsh international decathlete David Guest (Cardiff AAC) in an attempt to secure national titles.

The U13 athletes will take part in a team event whilst the Under 15 age group will see both individual ‘all-rounder’ titles and team titles contested.

Welsh Athletics Network Manager Chris Moss explains: “The Aviva Welsh Sportshall Athletics Final this weekend will be a fantastic event, and judging by the team line ups, one of the most hotly contested. It is a great way for athletes to compete in a fun environment and the atmosphere and noise generated by both the teams and supporters is always special. Some of our best athletes and many of our current internationals developed through this programme of activity.”

The action this Sunday from Cwmbran will start at 12.30pm.
