The Glynneath Five originated in 1986. It was supposed to be the Neath Valley Race – held at Glynneath. A Five Mile road race was set up byArthur Phillips, an experienced runner.

The race is different to other races – it encourages all types of runners – from beginners to international class runners. It is a Race and Fun Runcombined.
