Welsh Inter Regional Mountain Running Championship – Abergavenny
Mark Hopkinson (Mynydd Ddu) was victorious by a very narrow margin over Dan Bodman (South Wales) and Tom Roberts (Meirionydd). Hopkinson won the 7 mile race in a time of 52:03 with Bodman just behind in 52:07 and Roberts finishing in 52:11. The women’s race was won in far more dominant fashion by Katie Beecher (Les Croupiers) in 1:02, with Sophie Mornecks taking 2nd in 1:04:07 and West Wales’ Dee Jolly just seconds behind taking 3rd place in 1:04:13.
Rotterdam marathon – Rotterdam, Netherlands
Samuel Jody Richards of Pontypridd Roadents ran a personal best time of 2:36:20 for a 75th placed finish. Richards beat his previous best of 2:40:42 by over four minutes in a very impressive performance.
Crimson Tide invitational – Alabama, USA
Cardiff’s Ffion Price won the women’s 1,500m in a season’s best time of 4:21, whilst Cardiff’s Rebecca Evans ran 4:40 and Bethan Evans (Cardiff AAC) ran a season’s best time of 4:41.
Gamecock Invitational – Columbia, USA
Cardiff’s Amelia Reynolds again doubled up but this time in the 200m and 400m, finishing 4th in the 200m in 24.77 and 1st in the 400m in 55.93.
SPAR Omagh Half marathon – Omagh
Matthew Edmonds (Micky Morris Racing Team) ran a season’s best of 71:32 to finish 4th at the Omagh Half Marathon.
Battle of the Blues – North Carolina, USA
Olivia Gwynn (Swansea Harriers) ran two separate personal best times at the Battle of the Blues in North Carolina. Gwynn ran 4:29 for 6th place in the 1,500m before running 10:45 in the 3,000m steeplechase to finish in 3rd place.
Swansea Harriers Open Meeting
Bethany Moule (Neath) threw a new Welsh u17 Javelin record of 52.91m at the Swansea Harriers Open Meeting. Moule smashed her old personal best of 48.84m to start her summer season in excellent fashion.
Berry Field Day Invitational - Georgia, USA
Emily Kearney (Wirral) clocked a personal best time of 35:03 in another excellent performance to win the 10,000m at the Berry Field Day Invitational.
