Welsh Athletics Supports Cross Country Athletes to Compete Abroad

Welsh Athletics will be supporting a number of athletes to compete abroad at two international cross country matches in the next couple of months.

This weekend, Athletics Ireland hosts their 2nd Autumn International XC at Abbotstown, Dublin, with Welsh athletes Jenny Nesbitt (coach: David Walker/Worcester AC), Elliot Lawrence (Kevin Tobin/Swansea Harriers) and Jack Gooch (Kevin Tobin/Swansea Harriers) competing in the U20 and Senior races.

A few weeks later, on the 11th November, Welsh Athletics will be supporting 12 athletes to compete in the Lillebælt Cross in Denmark, a competition which forms part of the European Athletics Cross Country Permit Meeting series.

Selected athletes include GB World Championship athlete Ieuan Thomas (James Thie/Cardiff AAC), recent Cardiff Cross Challenge U20 winner Jake Heyward (Thie/Cardiff AAC), and Caryl Jones (Swansea Harriers), who ran a Commonwealth Games A standard for the marathon just last week.
