Barbaresi nails Commonwealth Youth standard

Menai’s Oliver Barbaresi (Andrew Walling), ensured his long journey to Watford on Wednesday evening was worth it as he stormed to the Commonwealth Youth qualifying mark in the Men’s 3000m. His time of 8:30.65 was within the required standard of 8:35.00. Oliver will now have his fingers crossed that he gets the nod for the Games which begin in the Bahamas on the 19th of July.

In the same race, Cardiff AAC’s Rowan Axe (Craig Winrow), broke into new territory with a second place finish in his race, claiming a time of 7.59.66.
