British Athletics League – Division 1, Swansea
Both Welsh clubs still remain on course for promotion to the Premier division, with Swansea Harriers claiming a commanding match victory, with Cardiff finishing 3rd on the day. There were impressive performances from Paul Bennett (400Mh – 51.71), Glen Elsdon (110Mh – 14.89), Dewi Griffiths (5,000m – 13.50.83), Jac Palmer (Hammer – 62.03), Jonathan Edwards (Hammer – 60.21) & Brett Morse (Discus – 59.33). UK Womens League – Division 2, Bedford
Cardiff AAC continued their charge toward the Premiership, with a solid 3rd place finish at the 2nd fixture in Bedford. The team were assisted with performances by Hannah Thomas (200m – 24.2), Rhiannon Linington-Payne (400m – 56.1), Jessica Abraham (PV – 3.80m) & Rebecca Chapman (Long Jump – 6.00m).
Guy Smith (Swansea Harriers) produced a superb performance to clock a big seasons best of 3.44.96 to finish 2nd in his heat.
Caryl Granville (Swansea Harriers) ran 13.83 in winning her 100m Hurdles heat, just 0.06 away from her lifetime best while also running 59.41 in the 400m Hurdles.
Jonathan Hopkins (Swansea Harriers) produced another strong performance over the barriers, running 8.42.39 for third in a tactical affair in Poland.
#RunWithTheWind sprints meeting, Cardiff
Sam Gordon (Cardiff AAC) was the quickest on the night running 10.40, just ahead of Josh Brown (Cardiff AAC) who ran a lifetime best of 10.55, and Glen Elsdon (Swansea Harriers) who clocked 10.78. Hannah Thomas (Cardiff AAC) ran a big seasons best of 24.41 to clock the quickest female 200m time of the night. The meeting produced well over 100 seasons and lifetime bests, with over 22 seeded sprint races taking place within 2 hours. Full results can be found on the Welsh Athletics website.
