Both Award of Honour and Meritorious Award recipients were recognised as part of the 100th Championships celebrations last weekend.
Award of Honour recipients included; international athlete and multiple major games representative Rhys Williams, husband and wife team Gordon and Rose Johnson and fellow Gwent Cross Country League stalwart Arthur Davies.
The Welsh Athletics Award of Honour is usually presented to mark a special performance achievement or for service (25 years minimum) at regional, district schools, or at national level for Welsh Schools or Welsh Athletics Ltd. As was the case this year, for the award to be made to an athlete, the individual will normally have either competed for Wales or Great Britain & Northern Ireland in a minimum of six major Games or Championships and gained a medal on at least two occasions.

On the same day Awards of Meritorious Service were presented to; official Jenny Cook, Cardiff AAC clubman Bernie Plain MBE, Keith Powell of Newport Harriers as well as Mary Davies.
The Welsh Athletics Award of Meritorious Service is also to mark special achievement, or for service (15 years minimum) at club, regional, school, district schools, university or at national level for Welsh Schools or Welsh Athletics Ltd.
