Osian Jones was in action last night at the Belfast International meeting, where the Liverpool Harrier achieved something spectacular throwing 69.20 metres in the men's Hammer. This was a huge personal best and also a Commonwealth B standard for next year's Games on the Gold Coast. What is even more impressive about this performance is that it broke a Welsh national record which had stood for 33 years. The former record holder, Shaun Pickering, took to Twitter after hearing the news, saying: "Congratulations Osian. A long time in coming but I am happy to hand over the title after 33 years!" It's been an impressive year for the Cardiff-based athlete, after winning the Welsh Title last month and setting a new Welsh record last evening.
